BURNHAM Hillside Bowls Club's end-of-summer charity game proved a big success.
It was their last internal competition of the season, with the president versus captains contest being the highlight.
Forty-eight Burnham bowlers played across six-rink games of 18 ends.
Before the start, a charity spider was held, with the winning bottle of whisky, donated by Steve Andow, being won by Graham Pinch.
In total, the spider, raffle and bar takings raised £356 for the Little Havens Hospice.
The game itself was a very close and enjoyable contest, with the president winning two rinks and the captains three, with one ending as a draw.
In the end, though, the captains were just victorious with a winning overall score of 110-105.
Meanwhile, Burnham's ladies played their last friendly of the summer season at Maldon.
They played over two triples.
In the end, Burnham won on both triples and came away with a winning score of 36-28.
Rink details: Burnham team names first: Rink 4 – Y Davis, V Hackney, I Gee (18) v M Howard, J Townsend, S Wright (13): Rink 5 – J Wilson, S Sims, V Hyam (18) v A Kingham, J Gill, M Betts (15).
