FORRESTER Park Golf Club have reached the Leslie Wood Championship semi-finals.

The men’s team had an excellent result at Romford, beating Clacton to reach the last four.

Jeff Atkinson continued his rich vein of form, winning the gold division of the vets’ divisional stableford with 41 points. Trevor Macdonald was second with 35 points, ahead of third-placed Dennis Morley (33 points).

Terry Drew won the silver division with 38 points, with Stuart Wilson (36 points) and Dave Chapman (35 points) second and third respectively.

The bronze division was won by Will Wass with 34 points, with Tony Traveller second with 33 points and Bill West third with 31 points.

Forrester Park's ladies played for the Heath Plate and struggled in the difficult conditions.

The winner was Jenny Frost with 31 points, with runner-up Margaret Triston with 28 points.

Irene Hoffman was third with 27 points and Josie Stevens won the New Course Shield, which was incorporated in the competition.

The course was crowded for Paul Messenger’s Captains Day, with competitions over nine, 18 and 27 holes for the men as well as ladies and junior events.

Chris Surridge won the morning 18-hole stableford with 39 points, ahead of Tony Hawkins (38 points).

Brian Stone won the front nine-hole competition from Roy Sayer, while Paul Banyard won the back nine from Josh Coleman, who also won the junior competition from Cameron Chapman.

Dawn Marriott won the ladies competition with 31 points from Lorraine Wilson, who scored 28 points.

Nearest the pins were won by Chris Surridge, Martin Burling, Chris Myers and Lorraine Wilson, with Ian Hughes having the longest drive.

Matt Sinclair won the major 27-hole prize with 62 points from runner-up Mark Ponder (59 points).
