TERRY King reigned supreme in the men's section as Tiptree Jobserve Bowls Club held their President's Day.
King accumulated the highest number of points to win his section while Nancy Powell, wife of President Ray, came top of the ladies.
The President’s Day was an eagerly-awaited event where Tiptree Jobserve BC members could show their support for Ray Powell.
He works tirelessly around the green for the benefit of all members and the immaculately-trimmed hedging at Warrior’s Rest is a testament to his hard and selfless work for the club.
The event was run as a Club Drive, where members each played three games of six ends, having drawn tokens to dictate their playing position for each game.
The afternoon started with a ‘Spider’ where members, ranged around the green, all bowled simultaneously towards a jack placed centrally on the green.
Mike Dickinson emerged as the winner, with his shot ending up closest to the jack.
Afterwards, President Ray Powell hosted an outstanding tea for participants, which had been superbly prepared by the entire Powell family.
A raffle, with prizes gifted by the host, raised a significant cash sum for the President’s nominated charity, Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
It was a special day in the life of Tiptree Jobserve Bowls Club and thanks go to President Ray Powell, Nancy Powell and the entire Powell clan for their hospitality.
