A LEVEL par round helped Mark Ponder secure Forrester Park Golf Club's Leigh Higgs Trophy.

Higgs, playing off a handicap of eight, produced a nett score of 63 to win one of the club's major competitions.

Forrester Park GC's ladies had fine weather and good support for their Spring Meeting.

The morning stableford was won by Maggie Lintner with 39 points, ahead of runner-up Lorraine Wilson with 35 points.

Jane Collier was third with 33.

The nine-hole competition was won by Muriel Loveridge with 11 points.

The team of Dawn Marriot, Chris Davis and Carol Yore triumphed in the afternoon Texas Scramble, with Claire Turner and Carol Yore winning nearest the pin prizes.

Forrester Park's men’s Leslie Wood team won their second-round match at Epping by 8.5-6.5.

They can now look forward to a home match against Orsett, in the third round.

Forrester Park's vets played a charity event for the Bees Plate Trophy, with all the proceeds donated to Cancer Research. The winner of the trophy with 40 points was Eric Coleman, who was also the bronze division winner.

Ron Adlington was runner-up with 39.

Eric Barker had the best score in the silver division with 38 points ahead of Jim Sadler, who finished a point behind.

Dennis Morley won the gold division with 37 points, while David Ayres was runner-up with 36 points.

There was a good turnout of 19 players for the vets past captains’ competition, which was won by Peter Cartwright with 39 points.
