THE Swan at Little Totham hosted Billericay U3A B and the visitors went home with a 3-0 win which puts them back to the top of the Essex Invitation Petanque League.

The home side have had a poor start to the summer season after a strong finish to their winter campaign and have scored just 13 points in the three games played.

Billericay A also registered a 3-0 win over Three Elms A.

Bocking Spinners lost 2-1 at home against Thorley, with the hosts' only win coming as Dave Robinson, Malcolm Smith and Richard Tite were 13-2 victors in the triples.

Bocking Boules hosted Onley Arms in a match that provided excellent play in all three games.

In the triples, David Adams, Geoff Cockrell and Darren Hutchins took on the visitors' Graham Hill, Neil Morgan and Trevor Blows.

With the game at 10-10, Onley had a chance to seal victory but failed to find a winning shot, which allowed Bocking to take three and seal the game 13-12.

Steve Tooley and Hill hit back by taking the pairs 13-8 against Mark Williams and Paul Griffin, to set up a deciding singles as 14-year-old Callum Finn took on experienced Onley player Blows.

Having been 6-2 behind, Finn pointed well to take a 9-6 lead, before Blows produced some good shots to take a 10-9 lead.

It then went to 12-12 and with Finn missing a chance to win the game, Blows' experience showed as he wrapped up a 13-12 victory to secure the match 2-1 for Onley.
