PAUL Nash secured a fine two-shot victory in Maldon Golf Club's Bill Newport Trophy.

Nash's four-under-par score of nett 67 saw him win the full handicap medal competition, which was contested by 51 members.

Nash secured a two-shot handicap cut following his win, which came despite a quintuple-bogey nine on the par four 15th hole.

The nearest-the-pin prizes went to John Meakes on the par three fifth/14th hole and Pete Hawkins for the closest second shot to the par four sixth/15th.

Maldon GC's Seniors played host to the Notleys Golf Club in another of their regular friendly matches.

Maldon's team proved too strong for the visitors and ran out 5.5-1.5 winners on matches.

The visitors paid compliment to the fine condition of the Maldon course, as well as the hospitality and catering.
