SCHOOL pupils in Brentwood have the opportunity to explore their next challenge, whether it's a job or further education at an event on Wednesday October 5.

Opportunity Brentwood is an aspiration event that has been developed in partnership between Brentwood Borough Council and Thurrock Council.

The event, taking place in Tilbury, is run together with Opportunity Thurrock, which is now in its sixth year and has become the largest event of its kind in South Essex attracting over 130 exhibitors who are always keen to speak directly with young people about their plans and help them to ‘signpost’ their preferred pathways.

Opportunity Brentwood delivers a range of providers offering information and advice on further and higher education, vocational training and employment.

During the day, students from every secondary school, Academy and College in Thurrock and from Beckett Keys and The Endeavour Schools in Brentwood will attend and students have the chance to meet and engage with different exhibitors representing universities, colleges, training providers and employers from across the country.

Both of the Brentwood Schools have identified a target cohort of students that are invited to the event to improve their understanding of the career choices that are open to them and to raise their awareness of how to access these opportunities.

Louise McKinlay, leader of Brentwood Council said: "Opportunity Brentwood is a chance for pupils from the Borough to explore the various career paths that are open to them as they consider their next steps.

“We hope that the pupils find the day insightful and informative as it will help with the transition from school education to higher education or employment.

“It is also a good opportunity to build links with employers to ensure pupils leave school with the skills employers need."
