THE MANAGER of the Meadows Shopping Centre has taken on the challenge of a lifetime in the Peruvian Andes.

Sue Patel, of Chelmsford, is trekking to a height of 4,200m over seven days on the Inca Trail through the Peruvian Andes to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

The challenge will see her fly nearly 10,000km from Essex to Peru and will take her to Machu Picchu.

Sue’s decision to leave the Meadows for the mountains follows the tragic and sudden death of her father-in-law last year following a major heart attack.

She said: “Although he had lived with heart problems for some time, he never complained and always put everyone else first.

"I am hoping to raise as much money as possible for this great charity and I am really grateful to my colleagues within the Chelmsford business community.

"I have worked and lived in Chelmsford for many years but the support I have received for the trek has absolutely blown me away.

"Many of the Meadows regular customers have also been very supportive towards me."
