TABLE tennis fans will have fresh opportunities to play thanks to an addition to a Maldon park.

A free-to-play accessible outdoor table tennis area has been installed in Promenade Park, close to the coach park.

The introduction of table tennis came after a suggestion on social media for Maldon District Council to provide an outdoor table.

The council received match funding from Active Essex.

Council leader Richard Siddall said: “The addition of a free-to-play outdoor table tennis area in Promenade Park is a great initiative for the community.

“It is wonderful to see how the idea originated from a suggestion on social media and how this was progressed by our Community Health and Wellbeing Officer.

“The collaboration with the Active Essex places and spaces fund and the council shows a commitment to making recreational activities accessible to everyone.

“This initiative is a great way to promote physical activity, community engagement, and well-being, and it will be exciting to see how the community embraces this new addition to Promenade Park.”

In the future, regular group sessions may be held in collaboration with local table tennis clubs.
