A GIG raising money for a mother suffering from a painful condition is set to take place next month with various local bands taking to the stage.

On December 3, a day full of music will be held to fundraise for Shelley Herrod, who has been diagnosed with lipoedema.

Set to play at the Old Chelmsfordians Association, in Roxwell Road, Writtle, there will be music as well as a raffle organised by Colin Petchey.

Lipoedema is a long-term condition where an abnormal amount of fat cells builds up in the legs, thighs and buttocks, and sometimes in the arms.

Shelley's son, Cameron Herrod, wants to buy a pump which will aid Shelley in her movement.

Cameron said: "The pump doesn’t cure the condition as there isn’t any permanent cure as of yet but the pump makes it so that she can be more mobile."

Shelley had to quit her job due to her condition and the pump is expensive which means the family are struggling to afford it.

Cameron said: "Anything given is very much appreciated and will help a bunch as me and my dad are struggling to keep food in the house due to trying to save money for the pump and because my mum can no longer work.

"This is putting strain on us as my mum gets frustrated not being able to do everything herself because she is usually very independent.

"This would usually be fine and me and my family would be able to deal with it but it’s setting off her emotionally unstable borderline personality disorder."

Bands playing on the night include The Remedy, Over The Hill, Rosie & Jen, Reddogz, Three Rivers Band, Among The Willows ad Ian Highland Band, which will fronted by Arron for a one time special event.

Tickets are £10 but under 12s can enter for free.
