ONE person was taken to hospital following a crash involving two vehicles on a main road.

Emergency services were called to Maldon Road in Tolleshunt D’Arcy on Friday afternoon following reports of a collision involving two vehicles.

Fire crews from Maldon fire station and Tiptree fire station were in attendance alongside Essex Police, an East of England ambulance and a hazardous area response team.

The ambulance service said one person was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care.

A spokesman for Maldon fire station said: “We were called to a road traffic collision on Maldon Road, Tolleshunt D’Arcy, along with Tiptree fire station.

“Our crew are trained in casualty care which means that we can work seamlessly with our colleagues in the ambulance, police and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance services in order to ensure the safety and comfort of any injured persons.

“After stabilising the vehicle, firefighters assisted paramedics to carefully extricate the casualty before handing them over to the care of the ambulance service.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called to reports of a collision in Maldon Road, Tolleshunt D'Arcy, at about 4.40pm on Friday, October 13

“At the scene we found two cars had collided and one driver had sustained injuries.

“We worked with emergency service colleagues at the scene, and the cars were both recovered by about 9pm.”
