A FORMER world boxing champion attended a charity meal in Maldon to raise money for a prostate cancer charity.
Jeanette Stilts, former mayor of Maldon Town, lost her father to prostate cancer after many years of living with it and undertaking trial drug therapy.
In September 2021, she did her first 'March the Month' 10,000 steps per day to raise money for research and to raise awareness.
In September last year, Ms Stilts did 11,000 steps per day. The number equates to the 11,000 men who die each year from prostate cancer.
With the help of Abdul Hafiz, from Maldon Spice, and Salman Bali, owner of Paparazzi and Sark, Ms Stilts, she set up a charity meal with all proceeds going to Prostate Cancer.
Former world light-heavyweight boxing champion John Conteh was also present at the event at Maldon Spice.
Charity meal raised over £2000 for Prostate Cancer UK.
During the meal, a raffle was held with prizes donated by Carlton Jewellers, The Queen Victoria Public House, Finale accessories, Coes, Tescos, Morrisons, Keyman, and a Drawing by Mark Durham's late father.
Music from Steve Maxworthy and Ash Hawes was provided at the event by SMC Radio for all the guests to enjoy.
