MORE than 200 jobs could be created if a new business hub in Maldon gets the green light.

The Maldon Salt Company is planning to relocate with two other Maldon businesses to a purpose-built, state-of-the-art business development.

The move could create more than 200 jobs.

Planning applications for the business hub have been submitted to Maldon District Council.

It would transform the 30-acre Oval Park site on Hatfield Road into a new business development.

The Maldon Salt Company is set to relocate to the new park, leaving its current premises at Wycke Hill.

Tecniq and CML are also set to follow suit.

The new site will provide business development for the three businesses, with spacious offices, warehousing and state-of-the-art research and development.

Rodger Gilles, of Barefoot and Gilles architects, said: “This is a fantastic development for the future of Maldon.

“It is expected to bring over 200 jobs to the district by 2024 and potentially many more in the next few years. Depending on planning permission, work is due to start on site in early summer 2023.”

The international Maldon Salt Company plans to create a new global headquarters, supporting its growth future growth plans and year-upon-year successes.

Managing director Steve Osborne said: “As a Maldon business that is dedicated to investing in our number one asset, our people, this development heralds an exciting future for employment and job creation in the area.”

Tecniq is a British design and manufacturing business, with over 20 years in the ultra-high-end automotive sector.

CEO Nigel Lempriere said: “TECNIQ will bring over 200 highly skilled jobs to Oval Park with growth underpinned by a comprehensive training and apprenticeship programme.”

CML Microsystems specialises in semiconductors for wireless communications markets.

On the new three companies moving to the facility, CML group executive chairman Nigel Clark said: “A trio of quality British companies providing the cornerstone of the development – the best of British."

Construction of the new site could begin as early as summer 2023 if plans get the go-ahead.
