A whist drive was held in the village hall on the first Wednesday of April. There were threeand- a-half tables in play.

Mr AC Clark was MC.

First, with a score of 167 was Basil Eves with a three-way tie for second place, one trick behind between Miss Rita Ellis, Mrs Ann Matthams and Mrs Sylvia Brown.

The snowball was won by Miss Sue Vale.

Winners of the other prizes were Mrs Margaret Arrell and Mrs Sylvia Brown.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

PRIMARY SCHOOL

Gymnastics: The school entered a competition at Melbourne Park Athletics Centre in Chelmsford, and Abi one first place in the individual routine, winning a medal and trophy. All the other girls were awarded certificates.

FOOTBALL

The school team played in the Plume Football Tournament recently, and won the sportsmanship' award after some stunning shots and spectacular saves from the goalie.

WOMEN'S CLUB

The speaker at the last meeting, Helen Hewitt, gave a very informative talk about reflexology, with a hands on' demonstration.

She is obviously very passionate about her work, and it was relaxing just watching her in action!

There will be a CLUB FUND RAISING COFFEE MORNING on April 16 at Gill's (Tel 01245 227292), from 10.30-12.30. The charge will be £1.00 for tea/coffee and biscuits, and there will be a raffle. Phoenix cards will be on sale, and 10 per cent of sales will be donated to the club. Do come along.

The next meeting is on April 22, and Emma Robinson is coming to tell us how to Love your Heart. This month's item for the Shoe Box appeal is a toy of your own choice.

THE QUEEN VICTORIA

Sunday April 20 at 7.30pm Trivia Quiz. Entry is £1 each with free food in the interval and many prizes. All proceeds to Village Hall funds.

Wednesday April 23: St Georges Day celebration with special menu and reduced prices on real ale.

Every Monday: Free Pool Table between 7 and 9pm.
