A whist drive was held in the village hall on the first Wednesday of September, Mr A C Clark MCing. With half the normal attendees on holiday, there were only two-and-a-quarter tables in play. First, with a score of 168, was Mrs Pearl Miles and second equal with 162 were Mrs Margaret Arrell and Mrs Kathleen Smith. The snowball was won by Miss Rita Ellis. Winners of other prizes were Mrs Joyce Parrott and Mrs Janet Huggin.
