AN ARTS and Crafts day proved a huge success for a Maldon charity aiming to support local parents.
Home-Start Maldon held the event on Wednesday as a way of offering parents a chance to relax during the busy summer holidays.
The event welcomed children four and under to enjoy a day of activities, while their parents were able to talk and have some time off, safe in the knowledge that their children were being entertained.
Around 20 children attended the event which proved a big hit with the youngsters and parents alike.
Marrie Webster, a Home-Start Trustee, said: “Wednesday went really well. It was an arts and crafts event for young children.
“They were engaged in the first part of the morning with activities from a group called Little Squigglers. They set up some entertainment around the theme ‘Under the Sea’.
“Then we had a buffet lunch and in the afternoon Home-Start set up some activities that the children could move freely between.
“The point of this is that parents who may find themselves not in a position to enjoy a holiday for whatever reason could relax and talk to people knowing that their children were happy, being looked after and being kept busy.”
“We do this type of thing quite regularly. We have done it before. We try to focus these things in the summer holidays where parents might particularly appreciate the chance to relax and have a break.”
