MALDON’S Food Pantry has teamed up with a superstore to help produce food parcels for those in need.

Morrisons, in Limebrook Way, has been donating food products to the foodbank-style pantry every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the last six months.

Food handed over includes tins, pasta, crisps and biscuits.

Kirsty Brinkley, Community Champion at Morrisons, said: “We freeze our bakery fresh loafs and rolls and cakes so that they last longer.

“We also give them any fresh produce or tins and pastas and anything with a best before date like crisps and biscuits.

“Rather than waste our items and sell them just to our staff we now donate them all.”

The pantry is always open to donations and welcomes items including pasta sauces, tinned meat, tinned tuna, jam, cereal and long life milk.

Maldon Food Pantry, at Elim Church, 17-19Wantz Road, is open between 9.30am and 1.30pm on Wednesdays.
