MORE than 50 drivers were caught flouting a village speed limit in just one hour.
A policing team carried out a speed check on Holloway Road in Heybridge on Monday.
In just one hour from 2pm they recorded 54 drivers exceeding the 30mph limit with one clocking 64mph.
All the drivers caught will be sent a notice of the offence in the post.
Essex Police’s casualty reduction officer Adam Pipe said: “In an hour 54 drivers were detected exceeding the speed limit all of which were at a limit they will be reported for the offence.
“It is an urban road with housing on both sides. 64mph in a 30mph zone is total unacceptable.
“Speed is still very much an issue for the local community and we will continue to provide support.”
