A WRITER of teenage fiction has paid a visit to a Burnham school.

Echo Freer, who has written a number of books including the Magenta Orange series, ran a workshop for pupils at Ormiston Rivers Academy.

The Year Nine students had a one-hour seminar with her and learned about the rewards and challenges facing authors.

They also got to question Echo on her writing process, research and how she makes her novels realistic.

Echo then treated the pupils to a reading from her latest book, dystopian thriller Toxic Treacle.

Eleanor Bowtell, literacy co-ordinator, said: “This was very well received by the students. “A workshop with some of the year’s most creative minds followed, where Echo was able to encourage our students to unlock a new area of their creativity when writing.”
