It was a “dream” day of GCSE results for William de Ferrers School with an 11 per cent increase on A*-C including Maths and English.

An impressive 67% of pupils gained the government’s key measure of A*-C, on Thursday 20.

Headteacher Neal McGowan, said: “These results are superb and reflect the hard work and commitment of the students and the professionalism and dedication of the staff.

“I am particularly pleased that almost all our students have made excellent progress during their time in the school."

He added that a number of students achieved exceptional results which will be among the highest in the country.
