More than 50 drivers have been caught breaking the law around Maldon and Heybridge – just seven days after a major police crackdown on “boy racers”.
Prosecution notices were sent to 71 motorists after Essex Police carried out an operation in Maldon town centre on August 7.
Despite a wave of publicity, a further 51 motorists will receive letters after a second crackdown last Friday, mainly for speeding.
Mark Durham, deputy leader of Maldon District Council, said the “boy racers” might have assumed the police activity had been a one-off.
