A chef “with unfinished business” has bought the same Maldon restaurant that estranged him from his young sons – but this time with his sons.
Back in the 90s, Fred Churchyard, 45, was forced to work 90 hour weeks at Malone’s on Maldon’s High Street to help provide for his family.
His sons, Shaun and Anthony Churchyard (25 and 21), would see him so rarely as infants they would often “wonder who this strange man was.”
But now, the family have pitched in together, bought the very restaurant that distanced them, and named it after the dad.
