Six stolen pedigree puppies are being held for ransom, a family fear.
Burglars struck at Sue Binden’s kennels in Cock Clarks, taking three male and three female eight-week-old German Shepherd puppies between 10.30pm on Wednesday and 7am yesterday.
Daughter Jade says the family have since received threatened calls and text messages from someone claiming they have the puppies.
That person is demanding £4,000.
Jade said: “We’re very concerned.
“He text me saying thanks for getting the police involved.
“He said ‘you’re never going to see them again and I’m going to send a video tormenting them’.”
Despite this, the Bindens are hopeful that they will see the puppies again.
They have been overwhelmed by the public support following their appeal.
If you can help with the police investigation, call Sgt Paul Austin of Maldon police on 101.
