Burnham will soon have as many as seven life-saving machines thanks to a donation.
Maldon Lions have given the town council a defibrillator to install outside the council offices in Chapel Road.
The town council will also be buying a defibrillator from the East of England Ambulance Service, which it hopes to position in a red phone box in Doctors Lane.
The council is looking to adopt the phone box from BT for £1.
Mayor Ron Pratt said: “I’m absolutely thrilled by the Lions’ donation.”
Defibrillators can already be found in some pubs and at the doctor’s surgery.
