Dengie beauty spots could become national tourist attractions after nearly £300,000 was secured.
Government minister Brandon Lewis visited Burnham's Ye Olde White Harte Hotel on Monday to reveal the district had won £292,000 to turn the Dengie into a choice destination and create 38 jobs.
The Coastal Communities Fund award will be used to develop a 75-mile coastal trail, the scene of the famous Saltmarsh 75 race.
It will also help to put on events and improve facilities such as links to the RSPB Wallasea Island Wild Coast Project.
