Bus users are up in arms after service changes saw their road by-passed for a service travelling to Chelmsford.

Retired Wilma Turner used to hop on the bus in Mundon Road with several others to travel to Chelmsford for the Odeon’s silver screen Wednesday event.

But since changes were introduced in September, the 31 and 31X no longer picks up passengers in Mundon Road and instead the service has increased for residents on the Poets estate.

Mrs Turner, who uses a walking stick, said: “It’s such a shame. It was such a popular service from this area.

“It’s depriving us of bus services.”

Mrs Turner is encouraging people to write to First Essex in a bid to try to reverse the decision.

The revised service also by-passes Great Baddow, near Chelmsford.

A First Essex spokesman explained: “The last major change to the 31 and 31X service was in September 2014, when the service level between Maldon and Burnham was increased to every 30 minutes, instead of hourly.

“This improvement in the level of service provided has proved very popular with customers."
