Groups are being encouraged to apply for £250,000 worth of funding to pay for young people to discover a new sport.

Sportivate is a £56million Lottery-funded London 2012 legacy project which pays for coaching for youngsters.

Since 2011, more than 600 projects have been delivered, so 14,096 young people had the chance to get involved in sport.

Ann Naylor, Essex County Council cabinet member for public health and wellbeing, said: “Don’t miss out on this latest opportunity to inspire our young people to do sport and physical activity.”

Applications must be made before September 1.
